2026 Artist: Laura Shore

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, 3-5 days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

Laura‘s Background

Last year's dialogue on Bridge to Rutland helped me get out of a rut and led to a series of paintings I had been wanting to do for a long time. The STOP/MOTION series (https://www.farmsharestudio.com/hudsonriver) was a break with the past and an opportunity to try new approaches. At the same time, we were preparing to move out of the country. Selling our house and studio and relocating to new city and temporary studio has made me acutely aware of the "stuff" that comes along with making art. My goal for this project is to find a lighter, more portable way of working that will be compatible with the path we are choosing.
