2026 Artist: Emily Smith

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, 3-5 days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

Emily‘s Arts Marathon Goal
I will post frequent updates on construction and painting of a large autonomous stained glass panel.
Emily‘s Background

As a stained glass artist and traditional glass painter, I find inspiration in the quiet magic of the natural world. My work seeks to highlight the connections animals share with the universe, and with one another, through moments that feel both grounded and otherworldly. I believe the whimsy and wonder we look for in our lives already exist all around us, carried in the rhythms of nature. Each piece I create is an attempt to honor that presence: to capture a fleeting spark of story, spirit, or connection in glass. By blending traditional techniques with a sense of curiosity, I seek to offer windows into the enchantment that’s always been there, waiting to be seen.

My work can be found at Kaleidoscope Art Supply in Rutland, The Brandon Artists Guild in Brandon, the Collective in Woodstock, and Remarkable Things in Stowe. It has also been featured at the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum.

I am thrilled to support the Bridge to Rutland mission: it’s wonderful to see art being used to support asylum seekers in our community, because creativity is a language that belongs to all of us. Art is a shared human thread that transcends borders, backgrounds, and circumstances, reminding us of our common humanity and our capacity for connection.
