2026 Artist: Elena Curcio
As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, 3-5 days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.
Elena‘s Arts Marathon Goal
I will be creating some strange sculptures, talking about my creative process, and perhaps sharing some harebrained ideas for the Arts Marathon. The month may even end in a giveaway for one of my sponsors! Join me in giving to this great cause.Elena‘s Background

My name is Elena, the artist behind Small Time Clown Ceramics. I am so excited to participate in Bridge to Rutland’s Arts Marathon this year! It is an incredibly important local cause, and I am glad to be able to use some of my skills for good.
My work explores a sense of detachment from the natural world, the devolvement of humans, and a general sense of exasperation with it all, while trying to maintain a glimmer of whimsy. I create characters who strike a balance between strange and approachable. Surreal fusions of bodies (human and not), they are intent on embracing “ugliness” with a certain je-ne-sais-quoi. Everything is handmade in my home studio. Each piece is devoted to bringing a cozy oddity to their eventual home.
