2025 Artist: Laura Shore

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, five days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

Laura‘s Arts Marathon Goal
I have been wanting to shift my practice for a while and I will use this time (and your attention) to try to do that. The results should be unpredictable and I will balance them with some of my favorite previous works.
Laura‘s Background

I have always wanted to paint, and was finally able to begin in 2012, when I retired early to take care of my parents. I live in a beautiful place, near Albany, NY, which is rapidly succumbing to real estate developers. I decided to use my work to promote local farm, foods, and landscapes -- to help bring awareness to the importance of landscape conservation. It's been a wonderful journey. Along the way I've found a new community and donated much of my art income to support groups and individuals working on land conservation and food insecurity. Now, between recent travels abroad and the tectonic shifts in the political climate, I'm looking for new ways to use my work to improve people's lives. The Arts Marathon seems like a wonderful way to do that.
