2024 Artist: Sue Carey

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, five days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

Sue‘s Arts Marathon Goal
I will be showing my braided roving wall hangings.
Sue‘s Background

I live in Wallingford, Vermont in a beautiful valley with lush meadows and a view of the Green Mountains. My family and I have been raising a heritage sheep breed, Cotswold, for 3 decades. Working with sheep's wool is a natural extension of this. My expertise is in needle felting. After taking braiding classes with Lois and Kathy, I decided to try braiding roving because I have an abundant supply of this material. During the Arts Marathon I will be showing some of my braided roving pieces. For more information on my technique go to my website, marblemeadows.com. My first 5 pieces are in celebration of the April 8 eclipse and how animals behave during sudden total darkness.
