2024 Artist: David Castonguay

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, five days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

David‘s Arts Marathon Goal
I will display wooden bowls that are functional in the kitchen or decorative. I will demonstrate the process to finished product. Additionally, I’ll demonstrate the creation of small wooden craft pieces (jewelry boxes) through large pieces of furniture (including the construction processes, such as hand cutting dovetailed drawers.
David‘s Background

An amateur woodworker, I have been building furniture for 38 years. Some works are for our own use, but many others have been on commission (such as the altar furniture for St. Jude Catholic Church in Radford, Virginia.)

Since retiring to Vermont in 2016 I have expanded my activities to include turning wooden bowls, spice grinders and Christmas ornaments.
