2024 Artist: Carrie Moulton

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, five days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

Carrie‘s Arts Marathon Goal
I'll be sharing a mix of old and new works, mostly paintings and drawings, but maybe some other surprises.
Carrie‘s Background

I come from a family of both self-taught and well-trained creative folks. I am of the untrained variety. As an adolescent and into my 20's and 30's I explored lots of different creative outlets: collage, pen and ink doodles, paper making, print making, fabric dyeing, and quilting. Most of my work was non-representational. Then I took a nearly 20 year hiatus from visual arts and crafts, while I raised my daughter and practiced law. A couple of years ago, I got the urge to draw and paint-- and to draw and paint (at least somewhat) representational images-- something I was always afraid of. I started painting some distinct childhood memories. I then moved to drawing and painting from family photos. I loved the process of studying these old images, and experiencing this dream-like state while I entered into the photo and translated it into another image. I like drawing and painting small. I like drawing and painting intimately. I like drawing and painting people or places or flowers or animals that evoke for me love or beauty. My dearest, oldest friend asked if I would be interested in participating in this fundraiser, and here I am.
