2024 Artist: Carl Buffum

As Arts Marathon artists we will send a different example of our creative process and work to everyone who sponsors us, five days per week during April. We invite our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else who cares about art and wants to support Bridge to Rutland’s important work to sponsor us. Together we will help welcome new Americans who, in turn, will add immeasurably to our communities.

Carl‘s Arts Marathon Goal

I will share a wide variety of tableware, bakeware, lamp bases, indoor and outdoor planters, decorative items in stoneware/porcelain., terra cotta, and raku

Carl‘s Background

For more than fifty years I've fired my pots in kilns of my own construction with gas and wood. I was introduced to pottery production at University and started as self taught, working in numerous locations over time. My shop has been in Wallingford since 1976. My work is mostly wheel thrown or hand built, carved or burnished. Most of my glazes I mix from raw materials. The Bridge to Rutland Arts Marathon gives me a welcome opportunity to contribute to a genuinely inclusive community effort.
